Position Description
Performs responsible and complex duties associated with a specialized function of a section of clerical employees. Duties may be generally described as planning, assigning, coordinating, directing, scheduling, evaluating, verifying, training, and processing of information. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and methods for the area of responsibility is required. Initiative and independent judgments are frequently exercised in formulating procedures or methods, and in program coordination. Work is performed under general supervision within University policies and procedures. Job performance is based on overall operational effectiveness.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Supports the customer service philosophy of Texas Tech University.
  • Front office management to ensure communications and processes are friendly, professional, responsive, consistent, timely, and accurate during normal operating hours for the department of Military Science.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and guests while providing the highest quality customer service, work ethic, reliability, and good attitude.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide information to caller, take messages, or transfer calls to the appropriate individuals within the department.
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments and assisting in outlook calendar management for the department of Military Science.
  • Provide administrative support for the department of Military Science. This includes but not limited to, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, coordinating purchase orders, submitting work orders to operations, completion of specific projects, course scheduling, managing rosters, managing departmental budget and overall department support.
  • Filing, mail distribution/mail out, copies, room reservations as needed, daily updates of logs, assist with event planning, assist with inventory, and other projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with upper management as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent. Three years progressively responsible clerical experience. Additional education and/or related experience to equal three years may substitute on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
Front office experience to include proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

15.20
