The Superintendent-President of Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly qualified candidates for Vice President, Business Services. The successful candidate must exhibit exceptionally developed financial acumen to successfully oversee a 1.1 billion dollar budget. This individual must also be a creative, dynamic, and collaborative leader excited at the prospective of successfully developing and overseeing: financial services, risk management services, facilities planning, construction, health and safety programs, security, purchasing and warehouse, contracting, mail and reprographics, maintenance and operations, and information technology.   • Location: Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) but will support both campuses
  • Salary: Range MGMT 19 $221,824 - $302,237 Annually
  • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 6 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications
  • Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties


GENERAL PURPOSE Under the direction of the Superintendent-President, serves as the District's Chief Business Officer; plan, develop, organize, coordinate, administer, review and evaluate comprehensive District-wide fiscal, facilities and technology services, including budget preparation and administration, financial management, accounting, payroll, benefits, auditing, risk services, facilities planning, construction, investments, capital financing, health and safety programs, parking services, security, purchasing and warehouse, contracting, auxiliary services, mail and reprographics, maintenance and operations, grounds, transportation, facilities rentals, information technology systems, networking, hardware, software, media services, and economic development programs. Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:Education, Training and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, economics, finance, or a related field; AND
  • Seven (7) years of relevant and increasingly responsible experience enabling highly successful performance at the executive management level managing multiple large departments and a large College-wide budget, OR
  • An equivalent combination of the training and experience listed above.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • An MBA, MA, or doctorate degree in business, finance or related field, or a California Public Accountancy (CPA) License
  • Experience in a community college district and/or public sector finance.
  • Experience in managing a budget of $100 million or more.
  • Knowledge of integrated business systems.
  • Experience in managing capital construction budgets.
  • Experience in issuing general obligation bonds.
  • Legal acumen.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy. Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
