Job Description:

Madison College is excited to announce a new opportunity for a motivated and innovative Business Development and Solutions Representative. This position focuses on building meaningful connections with local businesses and organizations to promote the impactful training services offered by our Business & Industry Services group. You will work closely with both for-profit and non-profit clients to understand their workforce needs, helping translate these into actionable training solutions that enhance their teams and contribute to community growth. This role involves developing and maintaining key relationships, driving business-to-business sales, managing projects, and contributing to the grant development process.

Our team's work is diverse and dynamic, ranging from apprenticeship-based training programs to customized solutions tailored for specific client needs. Whether credit or non-credit, our programs empower individuals to upskill and advance in their careers, meeting the demands of today's workforce.

This position reports to the Director of Corporate Partnerships

Position Details:
  • Full-time, exempt, 52 weeks per year.
  • Located at our Commercial Avenue campus, with flexibility for remote work within the district (subject to change). Core office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, M-F with some non-traditional hours as needed.
  • This posting may be used to fill similar positions within a 12-month period.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Business Development and Solution Selling: Proactively identify new opportunities and respond to leads, securing contracts for customized training, assessments, and technical assistance. Develop strong relationships with clients, serving as their go-to resource for workforce solutions.
  • Proposal Development and Contract Management: Prepare and present proposals, create budgets, and write contracts to ensure successful delivery of services. Experience with grants is a bonus!
  • Project Management: Oversee projects from start to finish, ensuring smooth execution and excellent customer service. Work closely with our Client Services team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Efficiently track and maintain activities and tasks related to the solution selling and sales process. Maintain a customer relationship management database with information, reports, and documents regarding client services. and contracts.
  • Representation and Promotion: Represent Madison College at local, regional, and state business and economic development events. Share our story with the community, internal stakeholders, and potential clients through presentations and networking.
  • Training and Technical Assistance: Deliver up to 30% of your time in direct training and technical support to clients, offering expertise that drives their success.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with your department colleagues to share insights and collaborate on achieving shared goals.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, project management, or organizational operations.
  • A deep understanding of current workforce trends, along with the ability to align client needs with college programs.
  • Ability to think strategically, balancing the big picture with immediate needs.
  • Flexibility in your schedule to meet client needs and attend events, with some travel within the district.


Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience.

3. Ability to travel to client sites within the district.

Preferred:

Experience in writing or managing grants is a plus.
