POSITION: Full-time Faculty and Chair, College of Business
Effective immediately: Full-time Faculty and Chair – College of Business - Wilmington University.
Requirements: A Doctoral degree or ABD is required. The candidate must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the areas of academics, curriculum development, and program management. Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work independently, but also as a team member. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Candidate must have a working knowledge of SharePoint, SmartCatalog, Website, Social Media, LMS/Canvas – Basic/HOT/Cyber, Synchronous online teaching tools (i.e. Zoom), student data systems/platforms such as Recruit CRM, Advise CRM, Perceptive Content/Banner, Document Management. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is required. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide leadership for the designated academic program(s).
- Provide comprehensive leadership for the MBA program.
- Manage the program review process and outcomes assessment activities for the designated academic program(s).
- Manage, analyze, and interpret measurements of student learning and program outcomes.
- Meet with the program(s) advisory committee(s) as directed by the Dean.
- Manage the development and renewal of course syllabi. Oversee the syllabi for each course in the respective program(s). Prepare course schedules in cooperation with the Dean.
- Recruit and recommend adjunct faculty to the Dean for appropriate teaching assignments in conjunction with the course schedule.
- Participate in the annual review process of adjunct and full-time faculty within the program(s) in accordance with established procedures.
- Participate in university-related committees, academic committees, and Faculty Senate meetings.
- Mentor new faculty and acquaint them with the University mission, the academic college philosophy, priorities, and procedures.
- Advise graduate students in the College of Business and work closely with the academic advisors and/or registrar's office concerning students' progress.
- Maintain the required teaching load as identified in the annual contract.
- Ensure that course textbooks and related instructional resources are current, appropriate, and cost sensitive.
- Assist with the development of online course templates.
- Assist program faculty in selecting and using technology to enhance student learning.
- Assist program faculty in using effective teaching strategies and establishing teaching/learning environments that are appropriate for the content/topic and that contribute to achieving expected student learning outcomes.
- Manage student issues, concerns, and academic/grade appeals expeditiously. Examples include but are not limited to: ensure contact information is readily available to students, make an effort to respond to student calls/emails within 24 hours, maintain personal work schedules to ensure availability to students, manage student issues, concerns, and academic/grade appeals expeditiously.
- Establish and enhance academic and professional networks related to the program.
- Plan and participate in activities that provide opportunities to share, collaborate, and network with practitioners.
- Organize discipline-specific professional development opportunities. Examples include but are not limited to: maintain an active presence at University events such as Faculty Development Day, establish and enhance academic and professional networks, participate in activities that provide opportunities to share, collaborate, and network with practitioners, serve on College/University standing committees, participate and contribute to the work of the Faculty Senate, support University functions such as homecoming, athletic events, fundraisers, open house programs, new student orientations, and graduate fairs.
- Ensure you are an expert practitioner in your field and actively complete all levels of PIE training program.
- Ensure competence in the use of appropriate course management platforms, systems, and processes such as Canvas, Banner, Early Alert, attendance reporting, adherence to grading standards and timelines, etc., and ensure faculty teaching load adheres to contractual teaching load.
- Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve on doctoral dissertation committees and support other DBA Program functions.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities that support the institution's mission and vision as assigned by the department/ University's leadership.
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Friday between the hours of 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m. Evening hours as needed for course load. Occasional weekends as needed for special events. Required to attend all Graduation ceremonies, Sigma Beta Delta Honors Society events, Doctoral recognition events, College meetings, Faculty Senate meetings and sub-committee meetings, and Professional Development Day events. Must be flexible to meet the needs of the College and/or the University.
