Job Description:
In support of the Whitman School of Management's commitment to an excellent student experience, the Assistant Teaching Professor of Business Analytics will provide outstanding teaching and engagement in student programming.More specifically, the Assistant Teaching Professor will teach six course sections per academic year, at the discretion of the Chair of the Finance Department. These courses may focus on school-wide required courses in topics related to Business Analytics, including those offered to students in their first and second years, as well as upper-level elective courses. Business Analytics is a growing area of focus at the Whitman School. There are a variety of emerging areas related to Business Analytics that would benefit from a dedicated and capable instructor, as industry needs rapidly change and new industry-standard software tools emerge. We are looking for an innovative and passionate faculty member who inspires students and prepares them for on-going academic success in Business Analytics. The Assistant Teaching Professor will be influential in shaping the experiences of Whitman's Business Analytics students and will be joining a dynamic group of committed faculty members across a variety of departments at Whitman. Our teaching team helps to ensure that the Whitman School's values of Integrity, Inclusion, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence are evident to our students. We expect this individual to join the faculty in advance of the Fall 2025 semester (starting in the Spring 2025 semester may also be possible).

Qualifications:
PhD preferred; Master's degree and 3 or more years of prior teaching experience required

Job Specific Qualifications:
Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • University-level teaching experience (3 or more years preferred), with demonstrated levels of excellence in classroom performance;
  • Taught a range of topics and subject areas related to Business Analytics, with emphasis on in-person/on-campus teaching mode;
  • Innovative and inspirational pedagogical approaches;
  • Expertise in working in a Business Analytics related area in industry;
  • Collegial, with strong verbal and communication skills and the interpersonal skills to work with students, faculty, and staff
  • A commitment to an equitable and diverse scholarly and student-focused environment


Responsibilities:
The Assistant Teaching Professor has the following responsibilities:
  • Will teach 6 individual sections of in-person courses per academic year, with specific courses determined by the Chair of the Finance Department of the Whitman School of Management;
  • Other student-related service as assigned
