Department Information

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for implementing budget development software
  2. Provide technical support for the budget development software
  3. Develop reports and visualizations in the budget development software that can be easily navigated by stakeholders and business users


DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*:

Job Summary

Develops reporting solutions to satisfy and support University stakeholders, supports financial applications, and delivers training on financial systems. Monitors and improves the quality of various technical and functional business processes, identifies, and resolves data issues. Responsibilities include collecting requirements, developing reports and dashboards, testing, implementation of new or upgrading software applications, leading process improvements, and training to support the objectives of the Institution.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1-8 -
1. Designs, builds, implements, and maintains Oracle Structural Query Language (SQL) scripts and procedures in Oracle financial data warehouse
2. Interfaces with clients to define business processes, specifications, reporting needs, and functional requirements
3. Develop reports, visualizations, and dashboards that present data in a way that is assessable and easily navigated by stakeholders and business users
4. Devises and executes test plans to ensure that the outcome meets the specified requirements and expectations of business users
5. Delivers quality end-user training programs, reinforcing technology and operations infrastructure to ensure effective and efficient use of the systems to achieve campus goals
6. Performs training needs analysis, develops training programs and manuals, initiates, and oversees training systems
7. Documents complex system processes, functionality and implements improvements as applicable
8. Leads meetings with end users to clarify issues, gather requirements, and resolve requests
9. Prioritizes and executes problem resolution based on business need, timelines, and scale of impact
10. Presents data resolution findings to relevant stakeholders with recommendations to ensure business needs are met
11. Leads finance users on current and future data visualization and reporting solutions to identify customer needs
12. Provides support for operational and technical processes, and system changes and proactively searches for improvement opportunities
13. Primary support point of contact for USG to open tickets and facilitate resolutions
14. Approves content on the department and/or division webpage under direction of leadership
15. Maintains financial data integrity

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Experience
Three (3) years previous experience in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Technology or Systems Analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certification in SQL, data analytics or similar relevant certification
Working knowledge of fund accounting, budget, and finance
Strong IT and Financial skills

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or related field

Preferred Experience
Experience with reporting and/or query tools and coding in software, databases, and/or programs such as Tableau, SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, Oracle Databases, and/or SQL (or gathering data from other related database systems)
Extensive experience in data analysis, dashboards, analytics and decision support systems

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to apply a working knowledge of SQL in relational database environments (i.e., Oracle)
Able to utilize multiple SQL based software modules
Subject matter expert for the PeopleSoft eProcurement administrator responsibilities
Subject matter expert in assisting team members with responses to electronic ticketing system
Able to support and utilize enterprise financial systems
Able to create and deliver end-user training programs, jobs aids and manuals
Able to work as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving
Able to communicate complex financial and technical concepts to the end-users
Able to work autonomously and with managers to ensure business requirements and needs are met
Able to conduct research for special projects, respond timely to inquiries, and present written and oral briefings
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of relational databases
Working knowledge of data management software such as SAS
Understanding of database concepts such as schemas and data relationships
Working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft or ERP system principles, concepts, methodology and Advanced knowledge of and experience working in data visualization tools (i.e., SAS, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and SharePoint
Familiar with API concepts such as web services

Polished and professional demeanor
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
