Job Summary:

The Colorado Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program Office works to build state-wile network capacity and strengthen academic-community linkages in four core mission areas: health careers and workforce diversity; health professions student education; health professions continuing education; and public health and community education.

This position will manage and oversee the financial, operational, and human resources functions of the Colorado AHEC Program Office. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource to others as needed to ensure adherence to University of Colorado policies and procedures as well as grants administered by the AHEC Program Office. The position will supervise administrative and IT support positions and will provide oversight and guidance to staff AHEC program staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial management of AHEC funds that include general, gift, plant, auxiliary, reserve, and grant funds duties include monthly reconciliation of expenses, creating journal entries, and preparing customized spreadsheets showing balances and expenses.
  • Manage the monthly and fiscal year-end close processes, produce monthly budget performance reports, and analyze AHEC's financial performance.
  • Produce financial reports per the Director of Finance & Administration for the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs.
  • Serve as reviewer and approver for procurement and travel reimbursement activities, ensuring compliance with institutional purchasing policies. Oversee and document the submission of pre-award grants through the Office of Grants and Contracts, and once awarded, oversee the fiscal integrity of post-award speedtypes and budgets, and assist in the year-end close and reconciliation process of AHEC grant funds.
  • Provide human resources management for AHEC including HR Management/Payroll coordination/liaison for internal and external high-level HR search processes.
  • Operations management to include oversight and supervision of AHEC housing initiative – timely release of housing funds and ensuring the accuracy of the housing reporting system.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, human resources, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least three (3) years of direct responsibility for financial, operations, and human resources functions.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current or prior recent experience at CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
  • Experience with University of Colorado HCM, Concur, Cognos, and Marketplace programs.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience with financial, Human Resources, and administrative functions in an academic medical and/or research setting.
  • Project Management experience, including large, long-term project development.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to interact professionally and ensure strict confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook or other similar software programs.
  • Adaptability and ability to successfully manage multiple self-directed projects with competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and stay current on the State of Colorado, University of Colorado, and other organizational fiscal and human resources policies and procedures.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $63,554 to $80,840.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
